Back Pain Sucks!

Updated: Jul 12, 2024

Search for back pain on Google and uncover stretching exercises that remain consistent regardless of the type of back pain you experience. These generic exercises are tailored to benefit only a select few, along with the common diagnosis of "sciatica." The likelihood of finding valuable information to effectively address YOUR back pain on this subject is extremely low, and here's why...

1)Back pain can be complex and necessitates a comprehensive assessment by a qualified healthcare provider. It is advisable to seek a trusted professional for evaluation. Diagnostic imaging may be necessary to exclude conditions such as fractures, spinal stenosis, disc compression, or disc herniation. Obtaining a precise diagnosis that elucidates the underlying pathology of the injury is crucial as an initial step.

2) “Sciatica” is often used as a catchall term for radiculopathy or lower back pain that radiates down into the buttocks, groin, thigh, or foot. The sciatic nerve is actually a bundle of nerve fibers that originate from the lumbar spine and sacrum, also known as the lumbosacral plexus coming together to form one large nerve. Once the nerves reach the knee, it branches into two different nerves that supply the lower leg and foot… the tibial nerve and common peroneal nerve. Your injury could actually be at the nerve root of L4, L5, S1, S2, or S3. Seek a healthcare provider to determine the origin of your pain.

3) Did you know that back pain might actually be causing protection patterns in your body around your visceral organs and central nervous system? How fascinating! It's crucial to seek out a healthcare provider who is not only skilled in identifying these patterns but can also provide the right treatment for them. Remember, if someone is only focusing on your back, it's time to find a provider who looks at the bigger picture!

4) You are a remarkable individual, uniquely and beautifully created! You deserve to be cared for in a way that recognizes your special qualities. No two people are alike, so it's essential to tailor interventions to suit your specific needs. Don't settle for a one-size-fits-all approach - let your body guide healthcare providers in creating the perfect treatment plan just for YOU!

5) Lymphatic drainage plays a crucial role in our overall well-being, especially when it comes to tackling pain, including troublesome mid back and lower back pain. Picture this: our amazing lymphatic system consists of a network of organs, vessels, and tissues all working harmoniously to ensure fluid (lymph) is efficiently transported back into our bloodstream. Not only does it help eliminate waste and toxins, but it also houses special blood cells called lymphocytes that act as our shield against infections. Imagine the vessels as a bustling highway running throughout our body, but sometimes, a traffic jam can occur, causing a buildup of fluid, waste, and more. This blockage can lead to skin sensitivity, discomfort, and reduced mobility. Let's keep our lymphatic system flowing freely for a pain-free and vibrant life!

This is not a complete list of things that could be the culprit or contributing factor to your back pain, but I hope this at least brings some attention to things you were not aware so that you can make the best-informed decision related to your individualized care.
